WAUKESHA, Wisc. — A Wisconsin homeowner called police early Tuesday after she found a stranger in her house sleeping on her dog’s bed.
Police said the young man likely entered the home through an unlocked side door, according to WITI.
Officers said the man was “heavily intoxicated” after celebrating New Year’s Eve. He “accidentally entered the wrong residence” and fell asleep with the owner’s 150 pound Mastiff, Benton, on the dog bed.
Police say the young man was cooperative. He was not charged.

Worth The Sting: Cuba's Scorpion Pain Remedy
HAVANA (Reuters) - Once a month for the last decade, Pepe Casanas, a 78-year-old Cuban farmer, has hunted down a scorpion to sting himself with, vowing that the venom wards off his rheumatism pains...
Researchers in Cuba have found that the venom of the blue scorpion, whose scientific name is Rhopalurus junceus, endemic to the Caribbean island, appears to have anti-inflammatory and pain relief properties, and may be able to delay tumor growth in some cancer patients.
While some oncologists abroad say more research is needed to be able to properly back up such a claim, Cuban pharmaceutical firm Labiofam has been using scorpion venom since 2011 to manufacture the homeopathic medicine Vidatox...

FDA Approves Pexion for Treating Noise Aversion in Dogs
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced (December 4, 2018) that its Center for Veterinary Medicine has approved Pexion (imepitoin tablets) to treat noise aversion in dogs…
The effectiveness of Pexion was evaluated in a study of client-owned dogs that had previously demonstrated noise aversion behaviors in response to fireworks...
The owners of 66 percent of dogs receiving Pexion scored the overall treatment effect as excellent or good, compared with 25 percent of dogs receiving the placebo…
The owners of three of the 90 dogs that received Pexion in the effectiveness trial also reported that their dogs became aggressive, including growling towards a young child and lack of restraint or self-control towards other dogs...

Not Strictly Toledo: Cat’s Meow Spay, Neuter & Adoption Project
Our 10th year is shaping up to be simply AMAZING! Thanks to a generous donor (who has asked to remain anonymous), we were able to purchase a gently used (only 37k miles!) bus to replace our previous transport vehicle.
Although it is only 1 1/2 feet longer than the old van, it has much more floor space which will allow for the cats to be positioned in a way that none of them will boxed in by other cats on all 6 sides. There is enough head room for anyone under 6' to stand completely upright, so no more hunching over to load and unload carriers! It has 3 bright dome lights, so no more reading labels in the dark by cell phone light! We will be able to incorporate the seats and seat belts into a tether system, so the seats won't need to be removed....allowing us to transport volunteers to events! And with the addition of an indoor-safe propane heater, we will be able to do check-in at our fall/winter/spring Roundups INSIDE! No more huddling under loading docks (Castle Rock) or picnic table covers (Elma) or struggling in open parking lot (Spiffy's)....we can simply walk right onto the bus and do paperwork in a warm, lit, wind/rain/snow-free space!
And wait for it.....A/C...for those 4 or 5 weeks in summer when we all melt! And a ceiling vent! And great heaters! And brand new tires! And a working stereo (with a cassette player! Lol)!
Our wonderful donor even gave enough to pay off a large debt to the Newaukum Valley Vet (Dr Brandy Mauel-Fay) that has been looming over us for years… going back to the days before our high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter program began.
The bus will be affectionately named "The Sunshine Bus" after a beloved orange tabby cat that our donor had back in the 70's named Sunshine.
Insurance is going to be a bit more on this rig and we want to have funds in reserve for maintenance and repairs (repairs should be minimal for quite some time), so we're inviting you to contribute to the "Sunshine Fund" to help keep this baby safe and strong while serving the community!
