Posted last night: Toledo Schools will be on 2-hour late start on Friday 2/10 to allow safe passage through and around flooded roads. If your home is inaccessible due to downed trees or flood waters, please notify your child's school to excuse his/her absence. Safety first!

PSA: Toledo schools closures via Facebook, radio and TV. Download the PDF link on District FB page listing all media outlets including flash alerts.

Toledo’s Head Start Program moved last Fall to 6.5 hour days from two half-day sessions, predicted by one parent long familiar with Head Start as certain to make the move to full-time kindergarten days easier on the students and teachers alike. But that’s not all they do.

Head Start is operated by non-profit Reliable Enterprises in Lewis County. Public Awareness & Outreach Coordinator Melody Porter distributed information to City Hall and around town last week including info on free resources for early childhood developmental screening for children birth to 5 years, a baby clothing bank, and monthly Lewis County Parent To Parent Coffee & Conversations at Fiddlers Coffee in Centralia.

Volunteer opportunities are available at the Toledo location. Email Area Manager Toni Nelson, tnelson@lewiscountyheadstart.org or call (360)864-2350 to make a positive difference in your community, and in young lives.

Toledo’s own celebrity astrophysicist Ethan Siegel writes on StartsWithABang: “As we look farther back in time, we find that younger galaxies formed stars at faster rates than galaxies do today…”

Most likely they were unfettered by Congress.*

Toledo Community Library carries a hard copy of his latest book Beyond the Galaxy: How Humanity Looked Beyond Our Milky Way and Discovered the Entire Universe. Ebook also available.
