A newspaper carrier in Northern California found a newborn girl with her umbilical cord still attached abandoned in the middle of a road.
Marijuana Lollipop May Have Triggered Man's Heart Attack  The 70-year-old man consumed nearly an entire marijuana lollipop. Within a half hour, he experienced "fearful hallucinations," followed by "crushing chest pain," the report said.

CDC Press Release: Progress Erased: Youth Tobacco Use Increased During 2017-2018
4.9 million middle and high school students used tobacco products in 2018

Monday, February 11, 2019, 1:00 p.m. ET  

About 4.9 million middle and high school students were current users (used in the past 30 days) of some type of tobacco product in 2018, up from 3.6 million in 2017. This increase—driven by a surge in e-cigarette use—erased past progress in reducing youth tobacco product use, according to a new Vital Signs report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Governor Jay Inslee declared a State of Emergency February 8 ahead of winter storms.
UPDATE (2/11): Inslee expands state of emergency to support delivery of deicer for runways and airplanes
Gov. Jay Inslee expanded the current emergency proclamation to include certain exemptions for commercial drivers delivering runway deicer and wing deicer to facilities and airports throughout the state.

UPDATE (2/9/19): Inslee expands state of emergency to support delivery of propane and groceries

Gov. Jay Inslee today issued an updated state of emergency proclamation that expands certain exemptions necessary for ensuring timely delivery of certain goods and products. The original proclamation granted exemptions to commercial vehicle drivers collecting or delivering bulk milk products and de-icing salt. Inslee has expanded those exemptions to commercial drivers collecting and delivering essential food and emergency supplies to grocery stores and those delivering bulk propane fuel supplies.

Good news, folks! The calf that we posted about earlier appears to be doing well. Sorry to hear from those of you that have lost some livestock in this cold weather!

Saturday KHQ Local News wrote: Blizzard conditions in the Central Basin area are forcing farmers to stage rescue efforts of their own. A viewer sent us this picture over Twitter of a newborn calf covered in snow that was born just outside of Ephrata. ​
