FoodSafetyNews.com reported: Pet owners file civil suits against Hill’s Pet Nutrition in relation to dog deaths
Pet owners have filed a total of three separate civil lawsuits in federal court against Hill’s Pet Nutrition Inc. following the company’s recent admission that some of its pet foods contained excessive levels of Vitamin D. The consumers are seeking class action status.
The named plaintiffs in the three lawsuits allege that their dogs became ill as a result of elevated vitamin D in the pet foods. Four of the sick dogs either died or had to be euthanized.
In addition, plaintiffs in one of the lawsuits accused Hill’s of “excessive and unwarranted delay” in notifying consumers and regulatory agencies of the Vitamin D toxicity issue.
News Release: Inslee responds to loss of dairy cows in Yakima County with emergency funding
February 20, 2019
Story: Dairy farmers who suffered an unprecedented loss of hundreds of cows during a blizzard on Feb. 9 are receiving help to properly dispose of the animals.
Gov. Jay Inslee made $100,000 available to assist Yakima Valley farmers to collect and haul the animals to an Oregon landfill. As many as 1,800 dairy cows perished in the winter storm.
“The storm hit Washington state hard, particularly in the heart of our state's dairy industry,” Inslee said.
Lewis County Sheriff’s Office shared a reader’s photo capture last week:
Police Officers are always getting bad publicity, how about some good publicity! I came across Lewis County Deputy Sheriff Dan Riordan helping a damsel in distress and changing her very blown out tire on the off-ramp of I-5 Exit 71. She was so thankful he showed up. I stopped because I thought my lift jack was with me but no such luck. Here's to Deputy Riordan for going above and beyond to help our citizens. Thank You for service to our communities! Can someone tag the Sheriff's Office in this?

Here’s an idea: we forego one of our military planes & instead invest the money in building food forests in vacant lots in depressed cities. A community project. Is that called socialism or humanism?
