"Perfect flying conditions late this afternoon after my paddle in Coldwater Lake." #resist #mtsthelens#washington #washingtonstate #pnw#pnwonderland #pnwisbest #nature #forest#volcano #blastzone — at Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.
To be clear, the paddling was via kayak, and not an icy plunge for swimming.
Nobody was injured in Saturday’s house fire but Neumann’s home of 21 years is gone. In true Toledo spirit, neighbors turned to Facebook, establishing 3 drop-off points for clothing donations, a GoFundMe account to cover excess cleanup costs, and the word is out already for housing.
Details on links:
- Andrea Jones: baseball cleats needed (covered) & drop off for apparel
- Ashley Fritz: Rachel Zamora Phillipps has offered her business as a drop off
- Angela Norberg Bacon, TES PTO on clothing sizes for family members: TES drop point

Your understanding is appreciated.
Last Friday’s emergency flood evacuation drill scored far ahead of the 90-120 minutes estimated by Tacoma Power, in case of dam breach upriver from Toledo. Detailed link here.
Following the drills: Results of the drill from Mrs Bacon “TES was evacuated in 15 minutes. TMS reached the high school in 16 minutes. TMS Life Skills took 28, but it will be faster when the bus doesn’t have to return to the elementary before picking them up.” All of these times are well within the margins for safety. Nice work by staff and students on this first drill.
vision:Toledo posted a link to this article from The Chronicle, adding: “Please read!”
“If (residents) can’t support it, (we) will recommend the board not run the bond and say, ‘Please give the money to a school district that needs it and will appreciate it,’” Superintendent Chris Rust told The Chronicle Friday.
