And: (TES Principal) Angela Bacon, recipient of a 2017 Spirit of Leadership Award from ESD 113 for her work on behalf of homeless children in Toledo. Angela works to be sure that students from families who are without a consistent place to live continue to receive consistent education. Thank you Angela, for your work on behalf of children in our community.
Expenditures are primarily on instructional staff. Maintenance of facilities, athletics, transportation, curriculum and supplies are all in "Support Services".
Did we mention that we're looking for school bus drivers? As long as kids get evenings and weekends off, so will you. Get paid $16.87/ hour to do what parents do for free. You'll never take your work home with you. In fact, it would be illegal! Contact the Transportation Department today. Email Mindy Smith, email@example.com, or call (360)864-2393.
Do you know any graduating seniors in the Toledo School District? Each year the Toledo Scholarship and Academic Recognition Association helps to make roughly 20 locally funded scholarships available through their application process. The application is NOW available from their website and the deadline to apply is March 31st! Please help spread the word.
From the TES PTO:
TES Kid’s Garden Annual Sponsorship
We are making some major improvements to the Toledo Elementary School (TES) Kid’s Garden and we need your help. The garden program provides an incredible learning environment for our kids and is run solely by volunteers. The kids learn where food comes from, composting, pollination, ecosystems, recycling, health & nutrition and much more. They love their garden. Most of them choose to spend recess in the garden on Garden Science days.
We are planning to build 16 new raised garden beds for the 2016 - 2017 school year. This is where you come in. Please consider sponsoring a garden bed! A commemorative plaque will be placed on your garden bed(s). Cost is $150 the first year, and $50 each following year to renew your sponsorship.
Email TESPTO@outlook.com or contact Brooke Acosta,(360)219-6161.

Rene’ says: Thursday Toledo LifeSmarts is conducting a food audit at the high school. The purpose: to uncover how much food goes to waste. This audit is one of the requirements for LifeSmarts points in advance of the group heading to Nationals April 20, 2017. Students weigh unopened, and uneaten food, as well as trash and landfill garbage.
She adds: Should be interesting.
Stay tuned for the results.
