From Camp Singing Wind:
Calling all folks interested in a Toledo Market! During our first meeting we decided to try and host a community event this summer where neighbors can come together to sell/trade homemade and homegrown items. Sort of a farmer's market meets Etsy. With live music, kids activities, and possibly some skilled demonstrations/workshops.
Depending on interest, this event might happen once this summer, once a month, or once a week! The folks in the initial meeting discussed Thursday evening (4-8pm) or Saturdays, with various ideas for downtown locations. Planning an event like this will take a lot of work, so if you're interested in growing our local economy and creating a fun community event, come on out to this second planning meeting.

According to my source, the Seed Swap at the library last Saturday was a success, with folks still arriving at 3 PM. Did you bring some? Take Some? Share some? ICYMI*, there’s still a Seed Swap bin at the front desk with packaged seeds.

Health Corner: Water, The 3rd Pillar
The four pillars* of health are largely within our control - sleep, hydration, nutrition, and exercise.
Drinking 8 glasses of water daily is repeated so often it’s considered fact. But is it? How much is enough?
According to sports nutritionist Nancy Rodriguez, RD, in 15 Hydration Facts For Athletes on Active.com, “enough to consistently void a light-colored urine...”
Bestselling author Shawn Stevenson writes in detail in an article on mindbodygreen about why timing matters and how to improve overall functioning: The Best Time To Drink Water To Maximize Energy.
But another titled Stories warning of dehydration dangers don’t hold water
from HealthNewsReview.org argues there’s no scientific foundation for that claim.
What about sports drinks? That depends.
Healthline.com featured the Good and Bad of Gatorade-type drinks.
LiveStrong.com posts Dr Tina M St John’s opinion: “If you are otherwise healthy, Gatorade is one of several options for rehydration, electrolyte replacement and short-term energy when you're sick.”
Hangover symptoms are due largely to dehydration, and RapidRecoveryRoom.com, a new service in Shreveport, LA offers 3 hydration packages promising to restore your vigor in an hour.
Disclaimer: As always, YMMV**. Use your own judgment.
*Stress is often cited as a fifth controllable factor.
