Sunday The Otter and I enjoyed a leisurely brunch at Gee Cee’s. Tuesday I brought home all the pineapple juice on the shelves at Toledo’s Market Fresh* (supposed to be better than OTC cough remedies and tastier). Wednesday found me stopping in at Alpine Chiro to ease my cough-wracked ribcage, then Chimi’s Family Restaurant where they cater to my specific food allergy and always greet me with a smile. Once a month, I fill up the Ford at Riverview NAPA, seldom more because most needs are within one tank radius. Buying local saves time, builds relationships, and represents the pulse of a community.

Drop ins welcome: March Adult Pageturners meet 1:30 p.m. today to discuss LILA, a novel by Marilynne Robinson. Meets fourth Thursdays (usually). Contact Harriett Whisler at (360)864-2484.

Today: Last year nearly half of the school district’s graduating seniors were presented one or more scholarship awards by the Toledo Community Scholarship (TSC) Committee. March is Community Scholarship Month. Contributions of any amount welcomed. And for $500 you can create an annual scholarship with your name on it. Details here. Application deadline April 8 here.

Deadline 11:59 p.m. tonight: Farmers Insurance once again sponsors Thank America’s Teachers, where you can cast a vote daily online to help Jennifer Barry win $2,500 for her grant proposal. Vote here. *This corrects Monday’s posting, the deadline listed inaccurately as March 30.

Friday is April Fool’s Day. Looking forward to sharing pranks and whoppers.
Toledo Girls Softball Association met briefly Tuesday night at the complex to plan for a scheduled work party 9 a.m April 3. On Facebook.

New Location: April 4 you can help stop littering. Lewis County area residents can drop off their cats 4-6 p.m. for spay/neuter transport at 611 NW State Avenue, Chehalis (this is the building immediately to the left of Kaija’s Garden and Pet). Reservations required. Visit Cat’s Meow SNAP! here for details or call 360-623-0820. Join me in signing up for monthly contributions.

April 4 City Council meets 6 p.m first and third Mondays at Town Hall. Visit website here or call (360)864-4564 for details.

If, as Oscar Wilde famously said, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then plagiarism is high tribute indeed. Rest assured The Other Toledo will always credit it’s sources.

Thanks to Vision:Toledo, Native Soil Farm, Toledo Lions and everyone for helping get the word out.
