From Toledo School District via Facebook:

This was the first year for SkillsUSA at Toledo High School. Our team consisted of: senior Jonathan Thompson-Foafoa, junior Shareace Miller, and freshmen Maliyah Miller, and Shawn Crossfield.

We qualified for State in eight categories: Creed, Robotics Automation Technology, T-shirt Design, Medical Terminology, CPR/Standard First Aid, Early Childhood Education, and Related Technical Math.

At State, our team scored very well, especially for our first year. Our students represented Toledo High School and our community with professionalism and great sportsmanship.

Our Robotics team of Jonathan Thompson-Foafoa and Maliyah Miller took second place at State! Congratulations!

Our team members also helped the State Director pack up equipment on Saturday morning.

We are very thankful for our sponsors, the staff at THS, the School Board, and the Toledo Community:
Gold Level: Toledo Lion's Club, Les Schwab Chehalis, Valley View Health Center
Silver Level: Betty's Place, Twin Cities Sign and Graphics (in-kind donations, printed banner)

We are already planning next year. We plan on working with our colleagues in other Lewis County schools to have scrimmages and share resources. Our students have great ideas to get others involved. Look for us at the Toledo Fishing Derby, Friday Night Frog Jumping at Cheese Days, and marching in local parades.

Toledo Proud!

Mr Reynolds says: Please don’t forget the THS Ag Science/ FFA class has Tomatoes and Peppers For Sale at the Napa Store downtown. The class has 3 varieties of peppers, those being Reds, Greens and a Hot variety  They are in 4“ pots for only 2 bucks.

For Tomatoes, they have grown Early Girl, Better Boy, Cherry, A Roma variety and Stupice. Most all of these plants are in 4” pots for the smaller ones and Gallon size for just $3 dollars each.

Folks have been asking about the Stupice variety. The Stupice is a Czechoslovakian Heirloom leaf variety tomatoe that is perfect for growers in our grow zone. Small to medium fruit size and very productive all season. You will need to cage them.

Once again, 4 inch pots are only $2 dollars and the 1 gallon size pots are just $3 dollars. The plants are moving fast so get them while you can.

Thank You.
Chuck Reynolds, Ag Science volunteer and advisor To Mr. John Ball THS
