Long-time Toledo Police Officer Randy Pennington tells this story last Friday:
I so love interacting w little kids on positive things as a cop...sooo there is a song popular with kids from you tube called the apple pen song...crazy silliness w a guy dancing around.....kind of like a sesame street thing...my grandaughter Karlee been trying to teach Grandpa the moves...and words. So i said hey grandpa can come to your class in uniform and sing it..you wouldn't dare grandpa..oh a challenge....so Wednesday, in full uniform i went to Toledo Elem School, into her classroom...Teacher said Karlee your grandpa is here..she looks up with pleading eye and face turning redder by the second whispering no grandpa...all eyes on karlee and grandpa and i bust a move singing the Apple Pen song....kids loved it....that night we went out for grandma’s birthday dinner..grandma asked Karlee were you embarrassed..Karlee said a little but is ok cause now I am famous...famous why? My grandpa is the cop that knows the apple song....
Gotta love it...
He added: Many have asked about the song and dance..here ya go https://youtu.be/Ct6BUPvE2sM

Brooke Sellards Acosta via TES PTO posted: The school garden is growing like crazy...and so are the weeds! We could use your help to get caught up. There are some very kid-unfriendly weeds around the blueberry bushes including thistle, quackgrass and bindweed.
If you have an hour to spare, come down to the garden and pull some weeds! Any questions, comment here. Thanks!

MAP Enrichment Programs shared:
Musikfeen toddler playgroup update May 7: Today the toddlers got their “Musikfeen take home kits” for the spring term - They enjoyed trying on their backpacks and exploring the contents!
After our music circle the toddlers went on a special sensory walk exploring through their feet soft and hard, scratchy and smooth... “Again, again!” They walked the path over and over for about 20 minutes, each time bringing new awareness of sensations, learning and giving language to their experiences. A few held hands, helping each other into and out of the water bucket at the end of the path to wash then dry one another’s feet with towels. Such a fun activity for learning to take turns, walk in a line and help each other! Did you know that going barefoot can actually help us to learn and grow healthy bodies and brains? Check out this article:

What are your favorite places to walk barefoot?
Plus: MAP day-camp adventures in July are filling fast! Two camps were filled and waitlisted already so we’ve added more staff to keep staff/child ratios low.

Local astrophysicist & author Ethan Siegel warned: You Won’t Like The Consequences Of Making Pluto A Planet Again, saying “There are some out there who are desperate to save Pluto’s planetary status, and would be willing to open the floodgates and bestow planethood on every moon, asteroid, and ice ball out there that’s massive enough to be round. There are others who spend 100% of their time looking down at their feet on whatever world they’re considering when it comes to planethood, and to them, everything with enough mass will be a planet. But for the rest of us, where you are in the Universe…” See More
