NWS Seattle Memorial Day Weekend Forecast:
If in the mountains, be prepared for the possibility of thunderstorms and know where to seek shelter!
The Coast Guard requires boats to have at least one B-1 marine fire extinguisher on board.
Take the time to read the directions on your fire extinguisher - you might be surprised about what it can and can't do. For more information on fire extinguishers, check out the Foundation Findings that we did in 2009 testing different extinguishers on different fires as well as testing volunteers on how quickly they could figure out how to use one.

USDA: ‘Unsung Heroes’ Help Find Infant Left Deep in the Woods
Forest Service law enforcement officers Nicholas Scholz and Patrick Legg helped find the needle in a 2 million-acre haystack.
The needle was a 5-month-old infant, and the haystack is the Lolo National Forest in Montana. Last week, the officers were each honored as an Unsung Hero for their work in helping to find the infant who many feared might be dead after a man reported he had wrecked his car with his girlfriend’s son inside.

May 14, 2019 - FDA adds Boxed Warning for risk of serious injuries caused by sleepwalking with certain prescription insomnia medicines
[04-30-2019] The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising that rare but serious injuries have happened with certain common prescription insomnia medicines because of sleep behaviors, including sleepwalking, sleep driving, and engaging in other activities while not fully awake. These complex sleep behaviors have also resulted in deaths. These behaviors appear to be more common with eszopiclone (Lunesta), zaleplon (Sonata), and zolpidem (Ambien, Ambien CR, Edluar, Intermezzo, Zolpimist) than other prescription medicines used for sleep.
