PSA: One reader warned “Watch your mail!!! Just had (the police) return my outgoing mail…”
It’s that time of year when thieves target graduation cards. USPS recommends using mail drop boxes for outbound letters & bills, Informed Delivery for daily inbound.
You’ll need a USPS.com account to sign up for Informed Delivery.
Visit http://informeddelivery.usps.com/ to learn more about the program.

For their last Nature Works Club meeting of the term members installed signs they made and painted for the community garden at Toledo Elementary School as their“give back” contributing to community project. They also made home-made ice cream and worked in their nature journals. The signs turned out great and school garden committee members said they loved them! Stop by the community garden at TES this summer and check them out - while you’re at it pull a few weeds and take home a few veggies for dinner, too!

Summer Camps Coordinator Annie Jones invites:

Toledo Friends! Want to be involved in making summer adventure camps magical and awesome for kids in our community? Here’s how you can help:
There are 4 kids signed up for camps who are in need of partial scholarships and one in need of a full scholarship. Can you help?
We need a few more guest volunteers Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week in July to come read a script/story to the kids at 1:30-3 or assist with a craft or field game (supplies and instructions provided) from 3-3:30. Can you help?
See Details here

The supportive response of this community last summer is the reason MAP was able to get rolling and provide summer and after school programs for so many kids throughout the year, including those in financial need! Let’s do it again - this time we’re giving kids the chance to experience a taste of real summer adventure camp, getting outside, active, and engaged with their world in meaningful ways, learning lots while having fun and making memories!
Thanks in advance.

Kathy Whiteside reports:
Gracie Update - She is doing well from her surgery on Wednesday. Just pretty sore and worn out but she is spunky and demanding so back to normal. She had a pretty big incision on her leg so she is still pretty tender. They took a biopsy underneath that we should know in the next few days the results. Thanks for checking in on her and us.

Chicky (Friday) at Prestige Post-Acute & Rehabilitation, Centralia, WA. Here she is resting her head on a table while being petted. "I was getting sleepy from all the petting and kisses to my nose." So many emotional residents today; the Activities Director was holding back tears several times. One man who was in a wheelchair in the hallway was sitting sad and angry. Chicky put her head in his lap and he put his head against her forehead, hugged her head with both hands, and tearfully said "Chicky" over and over until I had to reluctantly lead her away to see another person. I don't understand how she does it but she connects with people on another level than we do.
