Recap: Thursday’s City Planning Commission noted their approval of business licenses for 4 renewals and 2 new applicants.
Following these approvals, the Commission addressed and generally endorsed the Lewis County Countywide Planning Policies, synchronous agreements reviewed periodically to update changes. Toledo City Council meeting (Monday) will address the revisions and respond to Lewis County Planning Commission before their next scheduled meeting July 11, 2016.
Under General Discussion: In 2017, Toledo is scheduled to update their own Planning Documents. Historically, planners have been funded by grants. Qualifying data for such monies was collected via a revised census process recently (Jaime Herrera-Beutler, re:Toledo’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, here), inaccurately disqualifying several small towns in Lewis County including Toledo. Getting an extension on the 2017 deadline is a hoped-for possibility, while still setting the record straight on actual income data would re-establish Toledo’s eligibility for that much-needed grant. Anonymous collection of this information would be key in accomplishing this goal.
City Clerk Michelle Whitten attended Lewis County’s Cascadia Rising Earthquake Preparedness (see link above), bids are in on water tower painting, special mention of a traveling group raising cultural awareness on a walk from Alaska to the equator, meeting another group traveling from Panama to Mexico City, and hosted along the way by Cowlitz and other tribal nations, according to spokesman Jose Cortez.
Meeting adjourned 7:23 p.m.
