June 30 marks the expiration date of your Lewis County Burn Permit. Toledo Fire Department carries the link on their website home page (here). With July 4 fireworks and BBQ’s following close behind, it’s good to review a few common sense rules so you can record Facebook memories instead of YouTube disasters.

While we’re on the subject of fireworks: Each year area animal shelters see an upswing in pets separated from their families following noisy July 4th celebrations. Desensitizing dogs is not an overnight process, but it can be done. (Check out this article from trusted source That Mutt, link here.) Alternatives: check in with your veterinarian regarding calming remedies or tranquilizers, sequester the animals in a quiet room with white noise such as a fan, or as a last resort, put them in the car with air conditioning (medium, please, no frozen pups), fan turned on HIGH - works for The Girls.
