Guess who has a pulse of 74?
*Logan Grove is amazing 18 year old with a genetic heart disorder: Dilated Cardiomyopathy & Tachycardia (heart failure). This is a group to support Logan’s journey as he and his family navigates through this new journey in life attempting to manage this illness. Logan is required to take several medications daily all of which have the potential to cause him a heart attack, stroke, or coma. He is on a very strict diet that limits fluid & sodium intake. Eventually his meds will stop working and he will need a heart transplant. Medical costs are mounding with the MANY appointments to Tacoma & Seattle, constant tests, and medications required to merely manage his condition.

Toledo Police Officer Randy Pennington: Missing Pets + More Coyote Sightings
Just a little PSA of sorts: Seeing posts about lost small dogs, cats, etc. In the 34 years I've been patrolling the city at night, I have never seen coyotes in town till this summer. Always have heard them, but not (seen them) freely wandering in town. Virtually every night I am out since about May, I have seen at least one or more coyotes right in town, usually between Augustus to Oak between First and Third. They simply follow the food chain, and either they are finding easier prey in town or their normal prey is scarce, causing them to move into town. A stray cat or small dog is easy pickings for a coyote - even a huge dog is no match for several coyotes; they are predators and good at what they do.
I have noticed the normally large number of feral cats I usually see on Washington is declining. The number of raccoons and porcupines and rabbits I have usually seen at night are rare this summer. But coyotes? Literally every night after midnight.
Saw a coyote right by the old doctors office at Augustus and Fourth last weekend, about 2 in the morning, and he didn't even spook when I parked and got out of the patrol car across the street. He calmly went down 4th St and down Washington...

Toledo School District says: New THS Artist Rendering Adds Windows & Light
Consultants have advised that we spend additional time creating unambiguous plans to attract bidders and minimize change orders. They also recommend that we go to bid in December, select our General Contractor in January and break ground in February in order to avoid the bulk of the rainy season and attract more bids.
By adding some time to the project, we expect to realize $300-$400,000 more in state construction assistance for the project next July.
We've been silent on our progress this summer because conditions and information often changed hourly if not daily and no information is better than misinformation. Watch for blog updates next month.

Lewis County Water Alliance - We are a citizens group in Randle, WA fighting to keep Crystal Geyser from bottling and exporting our water. Our goal is to protect our water and environment for our families, our farms, our fish, and our future.
It is going to take some Big Change in order to keep Big Water corporations out of the Big Bottom and out of Washington State.
Update: Lewis County Water Alliance has received so much support from other towns & regions seeking to halt commercial water interests that Washington Water Alliance has been created.
*Special thanks to Deanna Busdieker, who condensed posts & threads into a shared folder: Link here.
Updated several times daily. The Other Toledo is committed to supporting our upriver neighbors in their challenge to preserve this precious natural resource. After all, we all live downstream.
