I still have a spot or two available in both the "game club/jam band" and "young writers/artist & skit club" and would love to have a full class so message me today if your child would like to join us! If your child can't make all the dates drop-in is ok, with pre-registration, $10 per two hour class. (Need-based scholarships available)

Toledo School Superintendent Chris Rust reports: The water supply project will begin construction at THS on Monday (July 17) and will continue through August.
There will be no water service (including restroom facilities) at THS until late August while this project is completed. In addition, the gym floors at THS will be refinished during the next week. During this time, the gym will be closed to all use until the finish has cured. The quality of the finish depends on us staying out of the gym.
Adding: FAC will be making its recommendation to the board at tonight's meeting 7 PM in the TMS library.
All School Board documents and agendas are available online here.

Health Corner: Pet Health* Part 3- First Aid Kit
Commercially available pet First Aid kits are available online & in stores, ranging from around $25 to $170. Much of the inventory of your household First Aid kit can double as pet emergency supplies.
The Humane Society lists pet-approved items for creating your own kit, as does American Veterinary Medicine Association.
Some advice seems contradictory. PETMD says “Dogs should not be given Advil, aspirin, Tylenol, or any other pain reliever made for human consumption.” Fidosavvy.com disagrees: “The recommended dosage for dogs taking human aspirin is between 5mg and 10mg per pound of body weight, given twice a day (once every 12 hours). It's helpful to know that a standard adult size is 320 mg and a baby size is 80mg.”
Here I list some remedies I have used with this disclaimer: I am not a veterinarian nor certified pet health expert. Use advice at your own risk. Some symptoms may indicate a serious problem requiring professional care.**
- Kaopectate - a toddler’s syringe, like the one that comes with children’s OTC cold remedies, works best. Start with small doses.
- Pepto Bismol - regular strength. Apply using technique above.
- Ginger ale - eases upset stomach. Averts the grass-eating and vomiting cycle along with associated clean-up.
- OTC stye eye remedy - helps sooth and move invisible eye irritations. Active ingredients are mineral oil & petroleum jelly.
- Food-grade oil - useful for ear irritations and harmless if ingested. Best applied outdoors where head-shaking won’t distribute the excess all over.
- Coconut oil - actually works on minor skin irritations. Safe if ingested. Bonus: natural disinfectant.
What remedies have you tried on a 3-day weekend, or when you’re traveling out-of-town with your pet?
*Domestic dogs & cats
