Toledo Fire Department posted a link to US National Weather Service’s excessive heat alert for NW Oregon & SW Washington, saying: A(n) Excessive Heat Watch is in effect from 12 PM Tuesday through 11 PM Friday for most of NW Oregon and SW Washington… more.

And while you’re at it, don’t forget to take care of Fido. Paws & Stay Bark & Breakfast says:

Your pup doesn’t get an alert on their phone about the excessive heat coming. Know the signs of heat stroke and take steps to keep your pal safe this week! Just in case, have your emergency plan including contact numbers & directions laid out in advance. We will be taking extra precautions to make sure any of your pals at the ranch are comfortable, so you’ll probably see less active videos and more laying in front of the AC videos… Stay safe out there!

Replacing an outdated water fountain at THS. The old unit didn't meet ADA standards - they didn't exist in 1975. The new unit will require re-plumbing and some retrofitting. Sure glad we built a contingency into the budget for this project! #itsyourlevy

WitP Donors & Supporters - Jill Davis writes:

Esther Borte 2nd Annual Walk in the Park benefit run/walk, cookout and raffle will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017. Since this event can offer great exposure for your business, I wanted to give you an early opportunity for your organization to get involved. Last year’s walk had more than 50 participants and we anticipate this number will increase this year.

Long-time Toledo Resident and past Park Board member Esther Borte created this fundraiser to help support park improvements. Sadly Esther passed away last December. We would like to keep this event going in her honor. With help from Vision:TOLEDO this year’s Walk in the Park proceeds will go toward installation of an RV dump station at Kemp Olson Memorial (City) Park.

Participants will travel the park’s quarter-mile inner track, followed by cookout & raffle. Your support will improve tourist's camping experience and encourage return visits to Toledo.

  • $50 puts your company name on the T-shirt walkers receive as part of their registration. Over 100 participants are anticipated. Great advertising!
  • $25 gift certificate lets you reward ther walker or team of your choice (Oldest Walker, best Costume, Most laps, etc).
  • Gift certificate or product donation lets your business be part of the raffle.

Donations need to be received by September 6, 2017. Thank you for your consideration in supporting this year’s event.

Contact Jill Davis* at Toledo City Hall for your Supporter Registration Form, cityoftoledo@toledotel.com or call (360)864-4564.

*You can register to participate as well, and order your T-shirt early by contacting Jill Davis.

Update: I’m curious - have you overlooked sending $5 or $10 to help Toledo’s Youth Football promoter, Head Start volunteer, and TES PTO School Garden supporter lay her beloved grandmother to rest?

Support the modest Lola Lucille Ross GoFundMe account - in memory of grandmothers everywhere, gone all too soon. Donations may also be made at Catermole Funeral Home in Winlock.

The rocks in the park were brought there by Esther Borte's family. They are the start of the water feature we are planning in the park in her memory.
