Paula Burrows [FROM LORINNE, RYLEE'S MOM]: THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!

#ryleestrong update: Rest was difficult last night (August 3rd) as the pressure was just too high on Rylees head so they had to open up the drain tubes again. The constant care of the ICU nurses is amazing but hard to find rest thru the night at times. Rylee and I have shared some precious moments together thru these nights as we sit in the darkness of her room in the ICU, momemts that I will hold close to me forever. She is weary at times but remains focused, she wants badly to find her new normal. Thank you again everyone for all your love and support thru this life altering experience that our family is facing, we could not do this without you! Keep all prayers coming as we step into day 9 in our battle to bring our Rylee home....#toledostrong #bringryleehome

National Weather Service Seattle Washington: Sunny & Warm Monday, Cooler Tuesday
Picture
Caption: Sunny and warm for Monday with highs in the 70s & 80s. Sunny again on Tuesday but onshore flow will bring down highs a few degrees.

Remember, with these warm temperatures the insides of vehicles can get hot pretty quickly. Be sure not to leave children and pets in vehicles!

Cliff Mass: Wildfire Smoke Returns to Western (and Eastern) Washington

Wildfire smoke is back, but fortunately it should be relatively sparse and short-lived here in western Washington and Oregon.  Many of you noticed the arrival of a thin haze the last few days, a combination of smoke from Asia, Alaska and southern Canada.

Here are two pictures from the SpaceNeedle cam at noon on August 1st and this morning (August 4th).   Can you see the difference? Mt. Rainier is visible in one and not the other and the mountains are less distinct today.
Picture
August 1, 2019 from Space Needle cam
With this smoke blowing in from the north and east, air quality has started to deteriorate in the West.
Picture
August 4, 2019 from Space Needle cam
What will happen next?  Most grass fires surge and die rapidly.  The latest NOAA/NWS HRRR smoke model forecast for 11 PM (Sunday), 11 AM Monday, and 11 PM Monday night suggests that most of the smoke will stay east of the Cascade crest and spread southward into Oregon and west into Idaho.

FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation: FBI Statement Regarding Shootings in El Paso and Dayton

The attack in El Paso, Texas, underscores the continued threat posed by domestic violent extremists and perpetrators of hate crimes. The FBI is supporting its state and local partners in Texas through investigative, intelligence, and technical assistance. The El Paso investigation is also being supported by the FBI’s Domestic Terrorism-Hate Crimes Fusion Cell, which was established in spring 2019. Composed of subject matter experts from both the Criminal Investigative and Counterterrorism Divisions, the fusion cell offers program coordination from FBI Headquarters, helps ensure seamless information sharing across divisions, and augments investigative resources.

The FBI is also providing assistance to the Dayton (Ohio) Police Department’s investigation into the shooting in Dayton, through the Bureau’s Cincinnati Field Office, with support from FBI Headquarters personnel.
Picture
The FBI remains concerned that U.S.-based domestic violent extremists could become inspired by these and previous high-profile attacks to engage in similar acts of violence. The FBI asks the American public to report to law enforcement any suspicious activity that is observed either in person or online.

FTC: The Capital One Data Breach - Time to Check Your Credit Report

Excerpt: In the Capital One breach, 100 million people in the United States and 6 million in Canada were affected. According to the bank, most of the stolen information came from the credit card applications of consumers and small businesses. The information includes names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, and more, all from applications filed between 2005 and early 2019.

For credit card holders, the stolen information includes credit scores, credit limits, balances, payment history, contact information and some transaction data. The bank says the hacker also stole about 140,000 Social Security numbers, 80,000 linked bank account numbers of secured credit card holders, as well as the Social Insurance Numbers of about one million Canadians.

Lewis County 911 Communications: Public Service Announcement

PSA: Do not post photos of an accident on social media. This could potentially show graphic details to family members before they have been properly notified of any incident. It puts loved ones in a horrible position when they see something and are not able to obtain further details via the proper channels.

Be sensitive. Be aware of what you are uploading to social media. Have a thought to families of victims who may not be aware of what's happened.

See below for an article on the same type of behavior and the outcome for family members.
