Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife shared:
This juvenile burrowing owl was one of several our staff and volunteers recently captured and leg-banded at nesting locations with artificial burrows in south central Washington. It’s part of the ongoing Global Owl Project in collaboration with other western state partners to learn more about these birds.
Learn more about what all our wildlife staff across the state have been doing at https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/wildlife_weekly/.
Also from Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife:
Starting Monday, Aug. 6, through Aug. 15, anglers must release all salmon caught in the Columbia River from Hwy. 395 bridge upstream to Interstate 182 bridge near the Tri-Cities. Elevated water temperatures in the Yakima River are keeping sockeye salmon from returning and making them vulnerable to over harvest while staging in the Columbia River at the Yakima River confluence.
