Registration for the 2017-18 school year is done at each school’s office. The high school office is open from 8-3:30. Middle school office will open on Aug. 16 at 8:30 and the elementary will open on Aug 21. Supply lists for each grade are posted on the Toledo School District website (toledoschools.us) or available at the school. The annual “Meet the Teacher Night” will be on Wed. Aug. 23. Elementary starts at 5:30 p.m., middle school at 6:00 and high school at 6:30. While not a time for conferencing, this annual meet and greet is an opportunity to see your child’s classroom, drop off supplies and get acquainted with your child’s teacher in an informal setting.
Staff will have a work day on August 24 to prepare for students to return for the first day of school on August 30. Families needing transportation to school are invited to contact the district transportation office at 360.864.2393 regarding routes and pick up/drop off times.

Mike Stavig says: Just wanted to share some news with you from Toledo First Baptist Church.
On Sunday, August 20, we will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary with a special celebration at the Toledo City Park.
50 years ago members from Castle Rock First Baptist Church came up to the park and held a Vacation Bible School. That event started Toledo First Baptist Church.
We will hold a worship service in the park at 10:30 am, followed by a potluck dinner. After dinner we will walk to the boat launch for a baptism.
It will be a great day of celebrating God’s work in the Toledo community.
Anyone who has had a connection with the church is invited to attend.

Tech Report: Passwords, Data Breaches, and Cats
From Toledo’s A Grey Area Computer Repair, a link to this story update from Bill Burr, retired former manager at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, who “wrote the book” on creating strong passwords, and who now calls his original line of reasoning misguided. He adds:
“Of course, for those who use password managers like LastPass, you can generate cryptographically secure passwords on the fly. But it’s still important to have a hard-to-crack master password.”

IdentityForce.com posted 2017’s Data Breaches - The Worst So Far, including America’s JobLink and FAFSA: IRS Data Retrieval Tool, exposing nearly 5 million job seekers and 100,000 families applying for college financial aid.

Apropos of precisely nothing, cheezburger.com has their own take on Jurassic Park, replacing dinosaurs with, of course, cats. Named it Purrassic Park. Besides The Oatmeal’s How To Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting To Kill You, Simon’s Cat, and The Engineer’s Guide To Cat Yodeling, this random noodling is proof of Phil Veal’s claim: “I have a device in my pocket containing the sum of all human knowledge…
I use it to view pictures of cats, and start arguments with strangers…”
