#I(heart)Logan posted this request from Angela Hill on Monday:

Hey guys!! Got another procedure (ablation) Tuesday!! Prayers welcome!!

*Logan Grove is amazing 18 year old with a genetic heart disorder: Dilated Cardiomyopathy & Tachycardia (heart failure). This is a group to support Logan’s journey as he and his family navigates through this new journey in life attempting to manage this illness. Logan is required to take several medications daily all of which have the potential to cause him a heart attack, stroke, or coma. He is on a very strict diet that limits fluid & sodium intake. Eventually his meds will stop working and he will need a heart transplant.  Medical costs are mounding with the MANY appointments to Tacoma & Seattle, constant tests, and medications required to merely manage his condition.

The fire season is over in northern BC. Done. Finished. Currently, it is SNOWING  up there, with all kinds of warnings and dangerous roads (see below). And this is after quite a wet period recently. What a difference a year makes!

CDC: CDC, States Investigating Severe Pulmonary Disease Among People Who Use E-cigarettes

Media Statement

Saturday, August 17, 2019 - CDC is providing consultation to the departments of health in Wisconsin, Illinois, California, Indiana, and Minnesota about a cluster of pulmonary illnesses linked to e-cigarette product use, or “vaping,” primarily among adolescents and young adults. Additional states have alerted CDC to possible (not confirmed) cases and investigations into these cases are ongoing. There is no conclusive evidence that an infectious disease is causing the illnesses. While some cases in each of the states are similar and appear to be linked to e-cigarette product use, more information is needed to determine what is causing the illnesses.

Latest Information

94 possible cases of severe lung illness associated with vaping were reported in 14 states from June 28, 2019, to August 15, 2019 (this includes 30 cases in Wisconsin).
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be shared as it is available.
CDC notified U.S. healthcare systems and clinicians about the illnesses and what to watch for via a Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA) Clinical Action Message. For information about a specific state, contact that state’s health department.

For information on electronic cigarettes visit: www.cdc.gov/tobacco/basic_information/e-cigarettes/index.htm

WA Department of Ecology: Statewide conditions - August 2019
Water & Shorelines > Water supply > Water availability > Statewide conditions

Updated Aug. 8, 2019 - As the state's lead agency for water supplies, we pay close attention to multiple data sources and monitor them closely. The Office of the Washington State Climatologist serves as a credible and expert source of climate and weather information for the state. Their monthly newsletter reviews the previous month’s data and provides an outlook for the coming weeks.
Picture
July Summary:
The weather conditions in July were quite variable around the state, with some definite winners and losers regarding precipitation. The coast, Southern and Central Puget Sound, and parts of North Central and Northeastern Washington, received above normal precipitation for the month, which was welcome news in the midst of the drought declaration in 27 Washington watersheds. Still, with July being the driest month climatologically, even double the usual amount of rain couldn’t make a large dent in the longer-term precipitation deficits over the last couple of months, or since the start of the water year (Oct. 1, 2018).

Consumer Protection Washington: Why Cashier’s Checks Are Part Of So Many Online Scams

Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and other places people buy and sell online are seeing an uptick in this particular kind of scam.
Picture
Caption: Cashier’s checks are supposed to be even safer than regular checks. Thanks to scammers, they’re not.

Check scams are one of the very common scams that our partners at the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General warn about. I've seen some of the fake checks and money orders that they have confiscated. They really do look real! Please take care.

Express UK: Google Chrome login: How to reset your password following MASSIVE online leak
GOOGLE CHROME users could continue to be at risk of cyber criminals by using logins leaked online. Express.co.uk explains how to reset your password.

Lifehacker: How to Make Sure Your Passwords Haven't Been Stolen
One of the best things about having a solid password is that you don’t have to change it. If it’s strong, unique, and hasn’t been compromised by an attacker, you gain no security benefits by modifying it according to some arbitrary timetable. Just let it be.
What you should be tracking is whether any of your passwords have been compromised on one of the many data breaches you’ve probably experienced recently—or ever. Obviously, when that happens, changing your affected password should be a top priority. But a lot of people don’t do this.

The Gadgeteer: Airthings Wave Mini smart indoor air quality monitor review
The Wave Mini is designed to provide insights into the chemical and odor levels (TVOCs – total volatile organic compounds) in the air inside your home that can negatively affect your health with short term problems like headaches, nose and throat irritation, and more. Long term exposure to high levels of TVOCs can include liver damage, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and more.

BBC: How I stopped my teenager being recruited online
The dangers of the internet are not a novel talking point for parents and teachers, but these most recent (mass shooting) tragedies have sparked renewed debate over what families can - and should - do when it comes to raising white boys in America.

Lewis County Water Alliance -  We are a citizens group in Randle, WA fighting to keep Crystal Geyser from bottling and exporting our water. Our goal is to protect our water and environment for our families, our farms, our fish, and our future.
It is going to take some Big Change in order to keep Big Water corporations out of the Big Bottom and out of Washington State.
Update: Lewis County Water Alliance has received so much support from other towns & regions seeking to halt commercial water interests that Washington Water Alliance has been created.
