PSA: Lewis County Public Health August Health Beat: Wildfire Smoke and Your Health
Research on the impact of wildfires, precautions for sensitive groups and links to unbiased data on home air filters and mask grades, plus signing up for Lewis County Alert:
Most paper masks that you can buy at the local hardware store are good at trapping large particles, such as sawdust, but not the fine particles in smoke. An “N95” mask, properly worn, will offer some protection...
Air filters are available that can help keep particle levels lower inside. The Environmental Protection Agency has a guide to home air cleaners at https://www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quality- iaq/guide-air-cleaners-home. If you do choose to purchase an indoor air filter, avoid those that “generate ozone” as they can actually increase the air pollution in your home...

But wait…
Quartz carried another view of the 10-year-old Merlin Mann movement: Inbox Zero is a Waste of Time. This is How a World-class Behavioral Economist Tames His Email
While the act of clearing out an inbox can feel as satisfying as cleaning the refrigerator, it’s ultimately just another way of wasting time, argues Dan Ariely, a psychologist and behavioral economist at Duke University. Like writing meticulous to-do lists, obsessively sorting and deleting emails is “structured procrastination,” Ariely said on the Bloomberg Game Plan podcast.
