Shirley Stirling of Sacajawea Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, writes: As I get to know the people of Toledo, read this blog, and find out more about it, it makes me think that I would love to live in Toledo. What a great town! Best wishes to all. We are working on other Oregon Trail markers in the series now, still hoping to finish them all in 2016 and looking forward to the rededication in Toledo on September 27th!

Planning is already underway for this year’s Veterans Day events, beginning with an invitation from Toledo High School Principal Martin Huffman: Toledo High School will have the Veterans Day Assembly at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016. Please post this and invite a vet, friend or acquaintance to help us celebrate....Martin.

One veteran, gifted a Wall of Honor brick to commemorate his service, said he never felt appreciated for his sacrifice until he attended September’s Annual Pow Wow hosted by the Cowlitz Indians at Toledo High School, and was invited to join veterans and service men and women of all ages on the floor in a tribute that moved him to tears.

Pick up a brick application to honor your veteran or current service member at Toledo’s Wall of Honor in Kemp Olson Park or at Timberland Bank.

Saturday marks the 17th Annual Pow Wow, held at Toledo High School.
