KATU News: This just in…
USGS reported: A small, 2.9 magnitude earthquake was reported in the town of Gervais, OR on Sunday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The 2.9 magnitude earthquake hit at 5:08 p.m. in the town located about 14 miles north of Salem and 5 miles west of Woodburn. The quake struck at a depth of about 25 miles.

President Trump is going to text you on Thursday. Actually, he's going to text the whole country.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission are going to be testing the nationwide Emergency Alert System on Thursday afternoon.

All phones that are on and have providers registered with the system are capable of getting the 'Presidential Alert' text.

The alert will commence 2:18 PM EDT. FEMA & FCC logos will appear at the bottom of the text message. Info on the emergency alert test:
  • It’s a nationwide test of the same system that pushes public emergency messages like AMBER alerts
  • Presidential Alerts are only for national emergencies
  • FEMA & @FCC are testing to ensure it will work when needed

Toledo School District reports: The Toledo School Board will meet with members of the Raymond School Board on Monday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at Evey's Cafe in Pe Ell.

The Raymond board was honored as a Board of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors Association. This meeting is for the Toledo board to learn more about effective boardsmanship and managing an effective strategic plan. No school business will be considered and no decisions will be made at this meeting.

Washington State Department of Agriculture posted Saturday:
As Hispanic Heritage Month gets underway today, WSDA celebrates WA farm operators of Spanish, Hispanic or Latino heritage – nearly 3,000 according to the 2012 USDA census. These farms, averaging 193 acres each, generated over $1 million in products sold. ​

Building a cold frame is a great fall or winter project and suitable for even the most challenged person when it comes to carpentry skills. Store-bought cold frames can be expensive and often lack the quality and flexibility of homemade designs. DYI cold frames, on the other hand, can be of high quality and low cost.

This year's quilt! Stop by City Hall and get your raffle tickets for your chance to win this beautiful quilt. This 3rd edition of the Walk In The Park quilt was made and donated by Esther's daughter, Mary Blair. Tickets are $1.00 each or $5.00 for 6 tickets. Drawing will be held at the event on Sept. 22nd!

Participants will travel along the 1/4 track at the Kemp Olson Memorial Park (611 Cedar Street) for as many laps as they can complete. There will be a hot dog lunch, raffle baskets, prizes, quilt raffle, and more. Valley View Medical Center, Lewis County Fire Dist. #2, and Lewis County Seniors will be joining us this year as well! Stop by Toledo City Hall and get your registration done today. All money raised is used to park improvements, this year's funds will be used to complete the rv dump station!
