"For the first time, all of the coastal sirens in Washington state will be tested on Oct. 18 at 10:18 a.m. using the real sound of the siren, not the Westminster Chimes that typically happen during the monthly tests. WA Governor Jay Inslee statement on death of Paul Allen
October 15, 2018
Gov. Jay Inslee (Monday) reacted to the news of Paul Allen's death.
"Paul Allen stands as a giant in Washington history for the genius vision that was so important to creating Microsoft with Bill Gates. That he went on to do so much more for our state, nation and the world puts him in rarefied company.
“Paul was a major philanthropist who believed in giving at home. Seattle is dotted with the results of his philanthropy and investments, from the unbelievable work of the Allen Institute for Brain Science to the preservation of the world-class Cinerama movie theater. He brought us a Super Bowl championship, a reverence for Jimi Hendrix and a vision for Seattle that today is home to some of the world’s most innovative biotech research and has been the cradle of the city’s economic boom.
“He cared about the larger world, too, stepping up to fight Ebola and working to preserve endangered animals. He exposed the dark depths of oceans and pioneered privately funded space flight.
“There’s little in the universe that didn’t interest Paul.
“Paul was a person who pushed so many intellectual envelopes and expanded human knowledge, and his legacy will live beyond bricks and mortar.
“In so many ways Paul Allen personified Washington state - innovative, caring and always willing to fight for equal rights for all.
“Trudi and I join people all over the world in sending our thoughts to Paul’s family and friends.”

Feel Good Foods Inc Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg Product In “Vegetable Fried Rice”
For Immediate Release

Feel Good Foods Inc. of Brooklyn, NY is recalling six lots of “Vegetable Fried Rice” frozen meals, UPC 00899039002129 because they may contain undeclared egg. People who have allergies to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled “Vegetable Fried Rice” meals were distributed nationwide to approximately 400 retail stores.
The product, pictured below, comes in a 9 Oz rectangular cardboard carton. Affected product has an ingredient sticker on the back, as well as one of the following best-by dates stamped on the side: 10/27/19; 10/29/19; 12/04/19; 01/25/20; 01/26/20; 01/28/20.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that egg-containing product was distributed in packaging, which did not declare egg as an ingredient. This problem was a result of the manufacturer failing to remove egg from the product formula as instructed. The manufacturer continued to include egg in the formula, while applying revised ingredient labels to packaging, which did NOT call out egg.
Consumers who have purchased 9 oz cartons of “Vegetable Fried Rice” are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (718) 499-2242. We are available to answer calls from 9am – 6pm EST.

FDA: Voluntary Nationwide Recall - Undeclared Sibutramine In Appetite Suppressant
Fat Burners Zone Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Zero Xtreme Due to Presence of Undeclared Sibutramine
For Immediate Release
October 15, 2018
View Product Photos
Fat Burners Zone is voluntarily recalling 1 lot of Zero Xtreme, capsules to the consumer level. FDA analysis has found Zero Xtreme to be tainted with sibutramine. Sibutramine is an appetite suppressant that was withdrawn from the U.S. market due to safety concerns. The presence of Sibutramine in Zero Xtreme renders it an unapproved drug for which safety and efficacy has not been established and, therefore, subject to recall.
Risk Statement: Sibutramine is the active pharmaceutical ingredient in Meridia, a new drug approved by FDA for marketing in 1997 for prescription treatment of obesity and, subsequently, withdrawn from the U.S. market on December 21, 2010, after clinical data indicated Sibutramine poses an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. The product poses a threat to consumers because sibutramine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and may present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke. To date, Fat Burners Zone has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.
This tainted product is marketed as a dietary supplement for weight loss and is packaged in gray aluminum bottles with gray aluminum caps, 30 capsules per bottle. The affected Zero Xtreme lot, #1220062085, expires 03/2020. Zero Xtreme was distributed nationwide via internet through the website fatburnerszone.com.
Fat Burners Zone is notifying its distributors and customers by a recall letter sent by email and is arranging for return/replacement of all recalled products. Consumers that have Zero Xtreme, which is being recalled, should return to place of purchase and contact their doctor.
Consumers with questions regarding this recall can contact Fat Burners Zone at (305) 741-2562 or at email@example.com. Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, EST time zone. Consumers should contact their physician or healthcare provider if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using this drug product.
Adverse reactions or quality problems experienced with the use of this product may be reported to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by fax.
- Complete and submit the report Online: www.fda.gov/medwatch/report.htm
- Regular Mail or Fax: Download form www.fda.gov/MedWatch/getforms.htm or call 1-800-332-1088 to request a reporting form, then complete and return to the address on the pre-addressed form, or submit by fax to 1-800-FDA-0178
This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

I’m so touched by what we can accomplish when we come together to make good things happen. We knocked out most of this long list plus more (patched roof leak, installed shelves, painted cupboards, cleared brush, installed art display and banner, moved furniture, fixed safety hazards, helped begin goat-pen project...)
Thank you friends and families of Wood Sorrel Forest School for your time, energy, sharing resources, elbow grease, laughs, and tasty potluck this weekend. And always, thank you Carol, Brian and Joanne for sharing this amazing space with the community!
