Citizens for Great Toledo Schools continues:

QUESTION DU JOUR 10.23.17
What are soft costs in the Toledo School District Bond proposal?
In a nutshell, soft costs are all of the costs associated with constructions that are not construction themselves. Some examples are: permits, architect and engineering fees, equipment rentals, costs associated with relocating students and staff during construction, and all the tax paid on labor and materials. Also factored into soft costs are allowances for contingencies.
In general, soft costs range from 32%-51% of the total cost of a project depending upon a variety of variables. The average for projects in Washington in districts served by CSG was 42%. The FAC determined that 38% was an appropriate estimate as part of getting the bond below $13 million.
Keep in mind that when the proposed projects are complete, if there are any excess funds remaining, it will be used reduce the amount borrowed and no additional projects beyond those identified will be undertaken without coming back to the community for permission and funding.

Two weeks remain before V-Day (Voting Day) November 7. Mail your ballot back early, or drop it off at the ballot box located adjacent to Toledo Senior Center & Toledo Head Start facility.

Thursday:

TES PTO never rests: PTO Members! It's time to show our support for the Toledo Bond!
Citizens for Great Toledo Schools is holding two community rallies and they need TES parents & students to cover one of three rally locations.
Toledo Post Office is our area! The first rally will be held this Thursday 10/26, after school until 4 PM! We're looking for about 10 students (with adult supervision) to wave signs and create some bond buzz. You can make your own signs...use ours...or just be there.
Help us remind the community that our youth is important!

My own experiment with swapping an aging Windows laptop for a Chromebook has passed the 30-day mark, with only one disappointment - I cannot run my preferred PDF Reader Foxit on Chrome OS. But that may change, if C/NET’s answer to my dilemma actually works: Yes, you can run Windows programs on a Chromebook.

Meanwhile, I can now play Wordfeud on the Chromebook’s larger screen, saving eyestrain & a kink in my neck, thanks to Chromebook OS welcoming Android Play Store apps aboard. How-to covered on this Google Help page.
