Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department reports:
Pierce County’s First Flu Death of 2018-2019 Season Reported
Your best protection against the flu is a flu shot.

TACOMA, Wash.—A Pierce County man in his 40s died Oct. 22 in the hospital from flu-related complications. He had chronic health concerns that increased his risk for complications. This is the first flu-related death in the 2018-2019 flu season.

Toledo’s resident astrophysicist Ethan Siegel posted:  
Our Solar System formed some 4.6 billion years ago from a molecular cloud that collapsed. Our proto-Sun formed along with a protoplanetary disk that eventually evolved into the Solar System we have today, complete with the inner, rocky planets, an asteroid belt, the gas giants and their moons and ringed systems, and then the outer Solar System.

Heard from a family this week how appreciative they are for the love and care that we’ve shown them during a difficult time in their lives. They remarked that their kids love their school and teachers and that everyone they’ve been in contact with has been supportive and understanding. They shared that this reminds them of why Toledo is such a special place.

Not Strictly Toledo: Lewis County Solid Waste Utility says:
Hazo Hut and the Swap Shack at the Central Transfer Station in Centralia are open today until 4 p.m. to accept your leftover or unwanted household hazardous waste and burned out fluorescent lights. The Swap Shack is the place you can pick up good re-usable paint or cleaning products. Both facilities are open every Wednesday and the first and third Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Remember! Construction will be continuing at the Central Transfer Station in Centralia this week! It is expected to last into mid-November, at least.
