FDA: Med Man Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Up2 Due to Presence of Undeclared Sildenafil
November 8, 2019 - Med Man Distribution is voluntarily recalling all lots of Up2 Dietary supplement There is no other all-natural libido for men and women to the consumer level.
FDA laboratory analysis has found Up2 Dietary supplement There is no other all natural libido for men and women to be tainted with sildenafil. Sildenafil is an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction. The presence of sildenafil in Up2 products renders them unapproved drugs for which safety and efficacy have not been established, therefore subject to recall.
This undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels which can be life threatening. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates…

WA ATG: Judge Rules For-Profit Value Village Violated The Law, Misled Washingtonians
November 8, 2019 - Judge found Value Village’s advertising deceptively portrayed the company as a charity benefited charities, when they do not. The judge ruled that Value Village knew or should have known its advertising was deceptive.
King County Superior Court Judge Roger Rogoff ruled that Value Village’s advertising misled consumers into thinking that it was a charity or nonprofit. In reality, Value Village is a for-profit business that brings in $1 billion in revenue annually. Importantly, Value Village knew that its advertising had the capacity to deceive consumers based on marketing studies that it commissioned and testimony from its former chief executive officer.
Judge Rogoff also found that Value Village misled Washingtonians that their purchases benefit charities. In fact, no portion of any purchases in any store owned by Value Village’s parent company, TVI Inc., has ever benefitted charities.
Today’s ruling only addresses whether Value Village broke the law. Judge Rogoff will determine the amount of penalties Value Village will face for doing so at a separate hearing, expected sometime next spring.

WSAC: WASHINGTON COLLEGE GRANT
About the Washington College Grant (formerly the State Need Grant)
The new, nationally recognized Washington College Grant (formerly the State Need Grant) makes education and training beyond high school affordable. More families are eligible, and more programs and types of credentials are included. Most changes will begin next academic year and will affect students who apply now for financial aid for the 2020-21 school year.
Overview of Washington College Grant
The Washington College Grant (WCG) program—formerly known as the State Need Grant (SNG)—provides need-based financial aid to income-eligible students pursuing postsecondary education. Grant recipients can use the financial aid at Washington's eligible institutions, including public two- and four-year colleges and universities and many accredited private/independent colleges, universities, and career schools in the state.
For 2019-20, eligible students have a household income that is less than 70 percent of the state's median family income (MFI).
Beginning in 2020-21, income eligibility will increase to 100 percent of MFI, with funding guaranteed for eligible students. The program will also expand to provide support for apprenticeships. Award amounts vary based on income, family size, and the school or program attended.
Please revisit this page for further updates on the WCG.
Di Morgan says: Sue Watcher will be teaching/guiding students in a Silk Scarf Dyeing Workshop on December 4th. Contact email@example.com for information about time, costs, and enrollment process.

Tech Report: Google Collecting Health Data Without Consent Or Knowledge
mashable: Google reportedly collecting health data, including lab results, on millions of Americans
It's all incredibly terrifying and, worse, it appears to be legal thanks to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Google has been collecting the health data of millions of Americans without their knowledge or consent.
It's all part of Google's secret "Project Nightingale" that the company has been working on with Ascension, which the WSJ notes is the "second-largest health system" in the country.
Among the personal health data that the two behemoths are sharing are "lab results, doctor diagnoses and hospitalization records," which "amounts to a complete health history, complete with patient names and dates of birth."
In other words, not only is Ascension handing over all of this data to Google, but it's not even anonymized.
Plus one more: Unsurprisingly, TV streaming devices are collecting data, too
Trend Micro Security: 49 Disguised Adware Apps With Optimized Evasion Features Found on Google Play
We recently found 49 new adware apps on Google Play, disguised as games and stylized cameras. These apps are typical adware, hiding themselves within mobile devices to show ads and deploying anti-uninstall and evasion functions. These apps are no longer live but before they were taken down by Google, the total number of downloads was more than 3 million.
This recent incident continues an ongoing trend of mobile adware surges — just last August we discovered 85 fake photography and gaming adware apps that also employed unique techniques to evade detection. These adware apps have been a long-running issue for mobile companies. Google needs to remove wave after wave — before the August batch of adware apps, there had also been over 100 adware apps found in July and adware that affected over 9 million users in January. We have been closely following mobile adware fraud for years and found these types of apps also quite prevalent in 2018. New versions are still constantly being uploaded, and we continue to monitor their progress.

In early October, two members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner (D-VA) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), called on major tech companies to develop a plan to combat deepfakes on their platforms.

New App Defense Alliance tries solving longstanding Play Store malware problem.
This week, Google announced a partnership with three antivirus firms—ESET, Lookout, and Zimperium—to create an App Defense Alliance. All three companies have done extensive Android malware research over the years, and have existing relationships with Google to report problems they find.
Independent researchers have found that many Android antivirus services aren't particularly effective at catching malware.
The Verge: Apple pulls app that let you stalk people you follow on Instagram
The potentially creepy app was called Like Patrol
Like Patrol went beyond the Following tab in some potentially creepy ways, with a number of features that could let users stalk someone’s behavior on Instagram without them knowing. CNET reports that the app could notify you if someone you followed interacted with a post from a man or a woman, for example, and the app’s makers apparently claimed to “have an algorithm to detect if they were posts from attractive people.”
