FederalRegister.gov: Rules Regarding the Frequency and Notice of Continuing Disability Reviews
A Proposed Rule by the Social Security Administration on 11/18/2019

AGENCY: Social Security Administration.
ACTION: Notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM).

SUMMARY: We propose to revise our regulations regarding when and how often we conduct continuing disability reviews (CDR), which are periodic reviews of eligibility required for benefit continuation. The proposed rules would add a category to the existing medical diary categories that we use to schedule CDRs and revise the criteria for assigning each of the medical diary categories to cases. The proposed rules would also change the frequency with which we perform a CDR for claims with the medical diary category for permanent impairments. The revised changes would ensure that we continue to maintain appropriate stewardship of the disability program and identify medical improvement (MI) at its earliest point.

DATES: To ensure your comments are considered we must receive your comments by January 17, 2020.

*Extension of Comment Period: Through January 31, 2020

DATES: The comment period for the proposed rule published November 18, 2019, at 84 FR 63588, is extended. Comments should be received on or before January 31, 2020.

FDA: Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA Voluntarily Recalls All Unexpired Lots of its Ranitidine Tablets and Ceases Distribution, Due to Possible Presence of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) Impurity

Company Announcement
December 17, 2019 - Glenmark Pharmaceutical Inc., USA (“Glenmark”) today announced the voluntary recall of all unexpired lots of Ranitidine Tablets, 150 mg and 300 mg, to the consumer level.

The recalled lots of Ranitidine Tablets 150 mg and 300 mg, which are listed in Attachment B, are being recalled because of the presence or potential presence of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) levels above the acceptable daily intake levels established by the FDA, based on FDA-validated tests.

Risk Statement: NDMA is classified as a probable human carcinogen (a substance that could cause cancer) based on results from laboratory tests. NDMA is a known environmental contaminant typically found in water and foods, including meats, dairy products and vegetables.

Glenmark’s Ranitidine Tablets 150 mg and 300 mg are manufactured at two approved manufacturing facilities. Of the 928 recalled lots of Ranitidine Tablets, USP, 16 lots were manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Goa, India and 912 lots were manufactured by Strides Pharma Science Limited, Puducherry, India. Ranitidine Tablets 150 mg and 300 mg is a prescription oral product approved for multiple indications, including treatment and prevention of ulcers of the stomach and intestines and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

FDA: Motto International Corp. Issues Voluntary Recall of Bull Platinum 30000, Stallion Platinum 30000, Rhino 7 Platinum 30000, and Panther Platinum 30000, Due to Presence of Undeclared Tadalafil

Company Announcement
December 17, 2019 - Motto International Corp. is voluntarily recalling all lots of Bull Platinum 30000, Stallion Platinum 30000, Rhino 7 Platinum 30000, and Panther Platinum 30000, to the consumer level. FDA analysis has found Bull Platinum 30000, Stallion Platinum 30000, Rhino 7 Platinum 30000, and Panther Platinum 30000 to be tainted with undeclared tadalafil.
…
Consumption of a product with undeclared tadalafil may pose a risk to consumers who take prescription medications containing nitrates (such as nitroglycerin). The combination of tadalafil and nitrates may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels which can be life threatening. Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates and may be the population most likely to be affected. To date, Motto International Corp. has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.

Federal Trade Commission: FTC Finalizes Settlement with Company that Misled Consumers about how it Accesses and Uses their Email

December 17, 2019 - The Federal Trade Commission finalized a settlement with an email management company that allegedly deceived some consumers about how it accesses and uses their email.

The FTC alleged that Unrollme Inc., which helps users unsubscribe from unwanted emails or consolidate their email subscriptions, falsely told consumers that it would not “touch” their personal emails in order to persuade consumers to provide access to their email accounts.

In fact, Unrollme shared users’ email receipts from completed transactions with Unrollme’s parent company, Slice Technologies, Inc. E-receipts can include, among other things, the user’s name, billing and shipping addresses, and information about products or services purchased by the consumer. Slice uses anonymous purchase information from Unrollme users’ e-receipts in the market research analytics products it sells.
