Toledo’s Master Gardener Linda Bird-Sonne writes: Thank you for posting the Lewis County Master Gardener, Master Recycler's Christmas Tree, Styrofoam, and Lights Recycling Event in your wonderful 'The Other Toledo'. What a great idea.
I just got back from staffing day one of this event at the Transfer Station in Centralia today (Monday). For the day after Christmas, we were surprisingly busy! This Event will be going on until January 10th so feel free to post it a second or even third time, only if you want.
F.Y.I., these trees are ground up by this Solid Waste Facility and composted with other bio stuff. The completed compost becomes available for free at a spot near the boat ramp at Borst Park in Centralia. If you were ever curious where these 100's of trees go that are kept out of the landfill, they're returned to nature in the form of free compost!
