Washington joins America’s State Parks in featuring First Day Hikes, and January 1, 2017 happens to be a Washington State Park Fee-Free Day.

Show up at Lewis and Clark State Park main gate at 10 a.m. for a moderate 1.5 mile (or shorter) trek with along the Trail of the Deer Path. Dress for the weather including footwear and raingear. Dogs welcome on leash.


Other WA State Park First Day Hikes, also fee-free, at 32 locations statewide.

Saturday Holiday Hours: Toledo Community Library open until 1:30 pm Saturday.

Also Saturday: Post Office will be open for package pick-up 8-10 a.m. Saturday. Knock on wooden door next to inside mail drop slot. No front desk services or phone answering.

Sunday: First Day Hike @ Lewis and Clark State Park 10 a.m. Free.

Monday Holiday closures: Toledo City Hall, Senior Center, Post Office and Timberland Bank.

Tuesday: City Council meeting 6 p.m. at Town Hall, due to Monday holiday closure. Public invited. Contact Toledo City Hall for special accommodations or cancellations at (360)864-4564.

Reservations required: Wednesday Toledo Senior Center Nutrition Lunch serves up ham & scalloped potatoes with peas and carrots, pineapple chunks, butterscotch pudding and a dinner roll, Friday sloppy joes with (more) peas and carrots, cottage cheese with apricots and lemon cake. Nutrition Lunches Wednesday and Friday are sponsored in part by Area Agency on Aging. Suggested donation $3 for those 60+ years of age.
