May 04, 2019 Conagra Brands, Inc. Recalls Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice Products Due to Misbranding and Undeclared Allergens
Class I Recall - Health Risk: High
Conagra Brands, Inc., a Russellville, Ark. establishment, is recalling approximately 2,094,186 pounds of frozen entrees due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product contains milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice are frozen, heat treated, not fully cooked and not shelf stable. They were produced on various dates between Oct. 1, 2018 and April 11, 2019, with “Best By” dates of Sept. 26, 2019 through April 5, 2020. The chart contains a list of the products subject to recall.
May 04, 2019 Tyson Foods, Inc. Recalls Chicken Strip Products Due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination
Class I Recall - Health Risk: High
Tyson Foods, Inc., a Rogers, Ark. establishment, is recalling approximately 11,829,517 million pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strip products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically pieces of metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strip items were produced on various dates from Oct. 1, 2018 through March 8, 2019 and have “Use By Dates” of Oct. 1, 2019 through March 7, 2020. The chart contains a list of the products subject to recall.
The problem was discovered when FSIS received two consumer complaints of extraneous material in the chicken strip products. FSIS is now aware of six complaints during this time frame involving similar pieces of metal with three alleging oral injury.
USDA-FSIS EDITOR’S NOTE: This release is being reissued as an expansion of the March 21, 2019 recall, which consisted of 69,093 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strip products. The scope of this recall expansion now includes more information and an additional 11,760,424 pounds of product.
Also: Walmart’s Great Value brand is included in this recall. Check your freezer.

May 2, 2019 - FDA Updates and Press Announcements on Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB) Recalls (Valsartan, Losartan, and Irbesartan)
FDA posted laboratory test results showing NDEA levels in recalled valsartan products as well as an assessment of the cancer risk from NDEA in valsartan.
Based on FDA laboratory testing results and records from manufacturers of the recalled valsartan lots, the impurities may have been present in valsartan-containing finished drug lots for up to four years.

Learn how worms can help you save money and help the environment! The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers will share their knowledge about red wigglers, the type of worm that can eat a lot of your kitchen waste and turn it into great fertilizer to add to your plants and gardens.

We are looking to fill a couple of spots on the Vision:Toledo Mayor's Task Force.
The first is a position at large currently held by Norm Baird.
The second is the Treasurer position currently held by Joh Jones.
We generally meet once a month on the 4th Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the Morgan Art Centre. Each Coordinator discusses what is going on in their group, where they may need additional help, new projects, etc. Bills are presented to be paid and an annual budget is discussed.
