You Can't Make This Stuff Up: Washington dairy farmers and fruit growers would have to report to retailers whether they use slaves under a bill endorsed Thursday by Democrats on the Senate Labor and Commerce Committee.
How do you really know if the chicken you are eating spent its life happily pecking for corn or if your blackberries were grown locally and are pesticide free?
Simple. Put a tracking device on it.
*Now for a truckload of hot chocolate to go with them...

State shellfish managers have tentatively scheduled razor clam digs on ocean beaches for 12 days starting Mar. 16 and extending into late April.
Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office announced yesterday:
Today marks a huge victory for our outdoors! Bipartisan leadership in both chambers of the U.S. Capitol resulted in a final vote today in the House of Representatives to pass a massive public lands bill, which includes permanent reauthorization for the Land and Water Conservation Fund! Thank you to the leadership of our state’s delegation for echoing our bold support for the outdoor recreation and conservation opportunities and experiences the Land and Water Conservation protects.
When we invest in our parks, rivers, and open spaces, we’re also preserving the places and boosting up both the rural and urban communities that make our state so unique. The Land and Water Conservation Fund is critical to ensuring that we not only have opportunities to explore our public lands now, but that they are still around for our children, and our children’s children to experience.
Lewis County Solid Waste Utility added an event: Waste Free Travel Kit
Spring break and summer travel are just around the corner! You don’t have to leave your waste-free lifestyle at home. Come to our Waste Free Travel Kit Workshop, where we will show you how to recycle old jeans or left-over fleece or terry cloth to make travel blankets, eye masks, make-up bags and a bag that can multi-task for your various carry-ons.
U.S. citizens throw away 21 billion pounds of clothing, shoes, and textiles each year! 95% of those materials can be donated or recycled. Instead, they get buried in a landfill. The workshops offer hands-on solutions to reduce these statistics by teaching you how to repair, reclaim, and recycle unwanted clothing, textiles, and other materials.
This class is offered to you by the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility and the WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers with support from Billie’s Designer Fabrics and Centralia Community Church of God. Please reserve your spot by calling 360-740-1452 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. March 18.
